New Library Topic: Cost of College

We added a new topic page: Cost of College. Today the mantra is that everyone should--and deserves to--go to college. This assumption itself needs to be questioned. But let's run with it for a moment and do some basic economics: What happens when the demand for a good goes up? Exactly: the price goes up with it. Now, what happens when the government starts "guaranteeing" payment for virtually anyone who wants that good? That's right: throw in some government-enforced assistance, and you've got a skyrocketing increase in the cost of college. As Krista Kafer observes, “federal loans have contributed to the rise of tuition. Tuition and fees at public and private four-year institutions have risen 38 percent in the past 10 years. In the past 22 years the cost of a four-year public college education has increased by 202 percent.”

Well, educating yourself with the resources our growing library has to offer is free. So check them out, and don't forget to tell your friends about us!
